The divine song by the divine
singer Mohd Rafi whom we popularly call as ‘Rafi Sahab” have immortalised the
words of, Shakeel Badayuni which was composed
by Naushad Sahab. The consultant of
the Movie ‘ Baiju Bawra’ was the Master Ustad Amir Khan Sahab. All of the four were Muslims to
create a heavenly music.

Take another song for instance in
the same movie based on ” Raag Darbari” O DUNIYA KE RAKHWALE SUN DARD BHARE MERE NALE where Rafi Sahab’s
throat kept bleeding while recording one of the greatest song of all time.

There was one more song from the
movie, which was sung by Rafi Sahab and was extraordinary which is still
forcing us to think

Rafi Sahab was a genius and was an
epitome of sincerity and honesty. He was a God’s voice. As God can’t be
corrupted, so could be Rafi Sahab

Music director Khayam said Rafi’s singing was emotionally gratifying and no matter what, his voice

 One of the greatest singers Manna
Dey said in an interview to Sonu Nigam that he was jealous of Rafi Sahab. The
way God has blessed and kept his hand on Rafi Sahab , it was not with other
singers including himself. Singers like Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Talat
Mehmood or even Asha Bhosle always held Rafi Sahab way ahead than themselves.

 The reason is so simple, the range
and the versatility of Rafi Sahab was unparalleled. He sang all types of songs
including Romantic, Ghazals, Qwalis, Classical, Semi-classical, Comic, Sad,
Joyful and even Regional.

 His expressions were divine.
He was the voice of Dilip Kumar, Shammi Kapoor or even the comedian Johnny
Walker. Even if you haven’t watched the movie and simply listened to a
soundtrack, you would get to know who the actor is, said by Lyricist Javid
Akhtar?  This is an outcome of his
sincerity and diligence to understand the expressions of the actors portraying
the role. Once Shammi Kapoor requested Rafi Sahab to sing Dil ke Jharonke Mein Tum Ko Bitha Kar to sing in a single breath,
Rafi sahab joked and responded if Shammi Ji wanted him to sing, or stop breathing. But he sang exactly as was suggested by
the actor. 

Rafi obsession that shows no sign
of decline even after almost four decades as Rafi’s voice stamps its indelible
mark on every nook and corner of the globe.

In a Charity, what is needed is
not the amount of wealth you have but the spirit of goodwill and intention.
Rafi Sahab was the greatest philanthropist to donate his legitimate hard-earned
money to needy people the way that his left hand did not know, what the right
hand has donated. On a saintly pedestal, he would never charge extra, though he
was the greatest singer of his time, but at times, would return the money to
producers, when they were paying him more than he was charging. He was donating,
his major chunk of money, on the poor. Many Kashmiri families he donated to
came to know of the death of Rafi Sahab after many months, after writing to the
Managers of Rafi Sahab. They inquired to know why the donations were stopped.
They received the reply that the man who was donating was no more as Rafi Sahab
who by then had left this mortal world.

For Pyarelal, there is no better male singer than Mohammad Rafi.
Kishore Kumar came a close second. Laxmi
Kant said “My father had once taken me to Rafi sahib’s house
to ask for money during our bad times,” he said. “When I became a
composer, I worked with Rafi sahib and Lataji on the song ‘Yeh
dil tum bin lagta nahi hum kya kare’. But instead of giving money, Rafi and Lata
both gave money to Laxmikant as Shagun but Rafi Sahab never remembers that but
Lata repeated it many times. Lata even dragged down Rafi Sahab on royalty issue
which he politely refused to. The squabble between Rafi and Lata created a huge
chasm between the two.  Differences over royalty payment on
their duets led to Lata Mangeshkar falling out with Mohammed Rafi and they
stopped singing together for nearly three years.
